In accordance with public health orders and social distancing recommendations, Parker Parks and Recreation will remain closed through May 31, in an effort to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus). This includes facilities (Parker Recreation Center, Parker Fieldhouse and H2O’Brien Pool) and programs. During this time, we are diligently working on a plan to ensure that our re-opening is done in a way that keeps the community and staff as safe as possible. We are looking to achieve this by implementing reduced facility capacities, limiting gatherings, enforcing social distancing guidelines, enhancing cleaning and sanitization efforts, using PPE and more.
Where possible, we will seek to reschedule programs; staff will be in touch with affected registrants over the next several days. Memberships will remain on hold.
Playgrounds, Discovery Park Play Fountain, ball fields, and other similar areas conducive to public gathering will also remain closed until further notice. For purposes of outdoor activity, public parks and trails will remain open. Practice physical distancing -- keep six feet or more from other individuals, avoid high-touch surfaces, and use provided hand washing stations, as available.
Due to the uncertainty of restrictions on gatherings, the challenges of monitoring and enforcing social distancing and the amount of advanced preparation needed, the following Parker Recreation events have been canceled: National Senior Health and Fitness Day Senior Stroll on May 27 (may be rescheduled), H2O’Brien Pool Grand Re-Opening on June 19, Cattle Crossing 5K & Family Fun Trek on June 20, Princess Ball on June 26 and Kids’ TRY-athlon on July 18.
