Parker Goes for Gold

The National Park and Recreation Association’s National Gold Medal Award recognizes communities across the nation that demonstrate excellence in long-range planning, resource management and innovative approaches to delivering superb parks and recreation services with fiscally sound business practices.

The Town of Parker has been a finalist for the Nation’s top award five times, winning the award in 2000 and 2011. Parker has submitted an application for the 2020 award, and we would love for you to check it out.

Our pursuit of excellence and inclusion drives the development of outstanding facilities, programs and services for our growing community of over 53,000 residents. Ensuring access to recreation and leisure for all citizens is a top priority. This is demonstrated through the innovative planning and programming efforts that have led to 3.5 sf of indoor recreation space per capita, over 1000 acres of parkland and open space, 80 miles of trails and a park within a 10-minute walk for 95% of residents.

We invite you to check out all the reasons our agency is outstanding, including our commitment to enhancing the three pillars of the National Park and Recreation Association: Social Equity, Health and Wellness and Conservation. Our facilities and programs offer something for everyone, making Parker Parks and Recreation a standout agency and offering unique recreation and leisure opportunities which are unmatched in many areas of the country.
